belongs to you.

When you register for the Makairo Builders programme, we collect only what you give us:

• Your name, phone number, and email address
• Your county and age bracket
• Your build level, skills, and any portfolio or GitHub link you choose to share
• Whether you are building for a competition, and which
• Whether you have reserved a training session seat
• How you heard about us

We do not collect national ID numbers, financial information, or sensitive personal data through this form.

We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you tick the boxes on the registration form. We use it only to:

• Contact you about the Builders programme
• Place you in cohorts and invite you to training sessions and opportunities
• Understand who our builders are, so we can serve them better

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for any purpose you have not consented to.

We share your data only with service providers who help us run the programme, and only to the extent they need it:

• Hosting and database: Vercel Inc., which hosts this site and stores registrations securely.

These providers act as our data processors under written terms. We do not share your data with advertisers or sell it to third parties.

Our hosting and database provider stores data on servers that may be located outside Kenya. Where your data is transferred outside Kenya, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard consistent with the Data Protection Act, 2019, and processed only for the purposes described in this policy.

We keep your registration data for as long as you remain part of the Builders community, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. When you ask us to delete your data, we do so promptly, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct data that is inaccurate or out of date
• Delete your data (“right to erasure”)
• Object to or restrict how we process your data
• Withdraw your consent at any time
• Data portability — receive your data in a usable format

To exercise any of these rights, write to desk@makairo.studio. We will respond within the timelines set by law.

We store registrations in a secured database with access limited to authorised members of the Lolwe team. We use reputable infrastructure providers and reasonable technical and organisational measures to guard against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

We use privacy-first, cookieless web analytics to understand aggregate traffic — how many people visit and which pages they read. This does not identify you personally and does not track you across other websites.

The Builders programme is open to people of all ages, including those under 18. If you are under 18, please register only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we hold data about a child without appropriate consent, contact us at desk@makairo.studio and we will address it.

If you believe we have mishandled your data, we would like the chance to put it right — please contact us first at desk@makairo.studio. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), Kenya (odpc.go.ke).

We may update this policy as the programme grows. When we do, we will change the effective date above and, where the change is significant, tell you directly.
